Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix well until ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  3. Form the mixture into 1.5-inch meatballs and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the meatballs and brown them on all sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  5. Once browned, transfer the meatballs to a plate. In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, scraping the bottom to deglaze.
  6. Return the meatballs to the skillet, then bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
  7. Cover the skillet and let the meatballs simmer for about 20-25 minutes until cooked through.
  8. After simmering, stir in the heavy cream to the skillet and mix well until combined. Allow it to heat through for an additional 5 minutes.
  9. Taste the gravy and adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve the smothered meatballs over pasta, rice, or alongside a crusty bread.
