Savory Beef and Cheese Chimichangas Recipe

Savory beef and melted cheese wrapped in crispy tortillas create a satisfying chimichanga, ideal for gatherings or a cozy night in.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup shredded cheese cheddar or Monterey Jack
  • 1 medium onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • Oil for frying

Method
 

  1. Cook the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add diced onion and minced garlic to the beef, cooking until softened.
  3. Stir in chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper; cook for an additional minute.
  4. Remove from heat and mix in shredded cheese until melted and gooey.
  5. Warm the tortillas in a separate pan until pliable.
  6. Place a portion of the beef and cheese mixture in the center of each tortilla.
  7. Fold the sides of the tortillas and roll them tightly into burrito shapes.
  8. Heat oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat, enough for frying.
  9. Fry the chimichangas, turning until golden and crispy on all sides.
  10. Drain on paper towels and serve warm with your favorite toppings.
