Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup shredded Monterrey Jack cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 cup finely chopped fresh jalapeños
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Method
 

  1. In a bowl, mix the cheeses, flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, cayenne, jalapeños, and milk.
  2. Add the egg to the mixture and stir until combined.
  3. Cover the mixture and refrigerate for about 30 minutes.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Scoop out portions of the mixture and shape them into balls or patties.
  6. Carefully drop the shaped bites into the hot oil, a few at a time.
  7. Remove the bites from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  8. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
