Flavorful Spicy Salmon Sushi Bake for Home Cooks

Spicy Salmon Sushi Bake made approachable with clear cues, pantry staples, and flexible swaps.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups sushi rice
  • 2 ½ cups water
  • ¾ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons sriracha sauce
  • 2 cups raw salmon diced
  • ½ cup green onions sliced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • Nori sheets for serving

Method
 

  1. Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. Combine the rinsed rice with water in a rice cooker or pot and cook according to the instructions.
  3. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  4. In a bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, sriracha, soy sauce, and sesame oil.
  5. Fold the diced salmon, green onions, and rice vinegar into the cooked rice.
  6. Spread the rice mixture evenly in a greased baking dish.
  7. Spread the spicy mayonnaise mixture over the rice layer.
  8. Sprinkle breadcrumbs generously on top of the mayonnaise layer.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown.
  10. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
  11. Serve warm with nori sheets for scooping.
