Discovering the Flavors of Pakistani Seekh Kabab

Succulent Pakistani Seekh Kabab brings a burst of spices and a smoky grilled flavor, making it an ideal dish for festive gatherings and family celebrations.

Ingredients

  • 500 g minced lamb or beef
  • 1 medium onion finely chopped
  • 2-3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1- inch piece of ginger grated
  • 2-3 green chilies finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh coriander leaves chopped
  • 1 tablespoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Skewers bamboo or metal

Method

  1. In a large bowl, combine minced meat, chopped onion, garlic, ginger, green chilies, and coriander leaves.
  2. Add garam masala, cumin powder, salt, and lemon juice to the mixture, and combine well.
  3. Cover the mixture and let it marinate in the fridge for at least 1 hour or overnight for deeper flavor.
  4. Soak bamboo skewers in water for at least 30 minutes before use, if using, to prevent burning.
  5. Take the marinated meat out of the fridge, and shape portions onto the skewers, pressing firmly to form long, even cylinders.
  6. Preheat the grill (or tandoor) to medium-high heat, ensuring it's well-oiled to prevent sticking.
  7. Place the skewers on the grill and cook for about 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned and cooked through.
  8. Once cooked, remove from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
  9. Serve hot with naan, raita, and lemon wedges for a complete meal.
