Delightful Christmas Sausage Rolls for Festive Gatherings

Christmas Sausage Rolls made approachable with clear cues, pantry staples, and flexible swaps.

Ingredients
  

  • 500 g pork sausage meat
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon ground sage
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 500 g puff pastry
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. Sauté the onion and garlic in a pan until soft.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the sausage meat, sautéed onion, garlic, thyme, sage, salt, and pepper.
  4. Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface and cut into rectangles.
  5. Place a spoonful of the sausage mixture onto one side of the pastry rectangle.
  6. Roll the pastry over the filling and seal the edges with beaten egg.
  7. Place the rolls on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  8. Brush the tops with more beaten egg and make slits for steam.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Let cool slightly before serving.
