Delicious Smashburger Quesadillas to Make at Home

Smashburger Quesadillas made approachable with clear cues, pantry staples, and flexible swaps.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 8 flour tortillas 8-inch
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded pepper jack cheese
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • Salt and pepper
  • Cooking oil for frying

Method
 

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add a tablespoon of cooking oil.
  2. Add the diced onion to the skillet and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add the ground beef to the skillet, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the cooked beef mixture with the tomatoes and shredded cheeses.
  5. Place one tortilla in the skillet and fill it with a generous portion of the beef and cheese mixture, then top with a second tortilla.
  6. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until crispy and golden brown.
  7. Remove from the skillet and let sit for a minute before slicing into wedges.
  8. Serve hot, accompanied by salsa or sour cream.
