Caramelized Onion Pasta with a Kick of Chili Oil

Savory caramelized onions blend with al dente pasta and a drizzle of spicy chili oil, creating a comforting dish perfect for cozy evenings or casual gatherings.

Ingredients
  

  • 12 oz spaghetti or linguine
  • 3 large yellow onions thinly sliced
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 cup chili oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley chopped, for garnish

Method
 

  1. Cook the pasta according to package instructions.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add the sliced onions, stirring frequently until caramelized, about 20-30 minutes.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic and red pepper flakes for the last 2-3 minutes of cooking.
  5. Toss in the cooked pasta along with reserved pasta water, stirring to combine.
  6. Drizzle with chili oil and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
  7. Serve garnished with fresh parsley and additional chili oil if desired.
